Integrated Sports Media To Distribute South American World Cup Qualifiers on Pay Per View; 10 Games in June for Rounds 13 and 14

November 1, 2021

TENAFLY, N.J. (November, 2021) -- After each taking seven of nine points during October’striple matchday, Brazil and Argentina are making plans to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup inQatar next year. While the two top national teams in South America are cruising, the race forthe other two automatic qualifiers, plus a spot in an intercontinental playoff, remain up forgrabs as the clock continues to tick.

The South American World Cup qualifying marathon is set to continue in the Novemberinternational window with 10 games scheduled to be played over six days and IntegratedSports Media, the leader in pay-per-view soccer matches, has got the games covered for you.Integrated Sports will offer matches on cable and satellite Pay Per View and to commercialestablishments across the U.S. The matches, which cost $29.95 each, are available on cable TVvia iN Demand along with satellite providers DIRECTV and DISH.

Eight of the 10 nations involved in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have played 12matches (the Brazil-Argentina match on Sept. 5 was abandoned) because games have beenpostponed several times because of the coronavirus pandemic that has ravaged parts of theSouth American continent. The round-robin qualifying tournament calls on each nation toplay home and away against nine opponents for a total of 18 matches.

Because of the delays and postponements, qualifying in South America will spill over intoMarch 2022, with the World Cup finals slated to begin in the Middle Eastern nation in lateNovember. The tournament will run from Nov. 21 to Dec. 18, 2022.

After the two teams at the top (Brazil on 31 points, Argentina on 25), there is a logjam fromthird place (Ecuador 17 points) and a current tie for fourth place (Colombia and Uruguay eachwith 16 points). That by no means rules out late runs from Chile (13), Bolivia and Paraguay (12each) and even Perú (11).

If the triple matchday in October was any indication, home teams have a distinct advantage --Brazil was the only team to grab a win away from home, rallying to defeat Venezuela, 3-1, aftertrailing for more than 70 minutes. Brazil later dropped its first points in a 0-0 draw at Colombiabefore an emphatic 4-1 thrashing of Uruguay. Argentina sputtered to a 0-0 tie at Paraguaybefore Lionel Messi scored his South American record 80th international goal in a 3-0 winover Uruguay.

The table below the top two is congested, with two automatic qualifying spots and theplayoff berth all in play. Ecuador took 6 of 9 points while stumbling at Venezuela but couldenhance its position in the return match against La Vinotinto before traveling to Chile. InOctober, Colombia didn’t win a game, but it also didn’t lose a game, playing to a trifecta of 0-0draws to hold onto the fourth and final automatic berth. La Celeste, Uruguay, hangs onprecariously to the playoff berth after only squeezing 1 point from its last three games -- ahome draw against Colombia, followed by losses to Brazil and Argentina.
